The Mahdi’s (as) ability to move, his speed, his calming down of events, unification and building of the Islamic world are taking place at a faster pace than has ever been seen before. Hazrat Mahdi (as) is unbelievably swift. Our Prophet (saas) says, “The Mahdi (as) will do in one year what you do in 20 years.” He recognized no bureaucratic obstacles but is highly affectionate and compassionate. But the Mahdi (as) has no official duties. His heart has duties. People follow him out of love, he is based on love. He is no official prime minister or president. He has no official title. His commands are followed through with love and respect. Therefore, he makes no intervention in countries or their policies. Neither has he any desire to do so. The hadiths say that he will rule from his own home. They do not say he will go and install himself in the Presidential Palace. They do not say he will go and live in a palace. They say he will run things from his own home. That is a characteristic of Hazrat Mahdi (as). Because he is a man of love. Bediuzzaman says he will not get involved in politics. The Mahdi (as) is not interested in politics. He resolves all matters with love. The Mahdi (as) makes no pretensions to abolishing or changing such and such a regime. He does not suggest that borders follow such and such a course so let us draw them along those lines. Borders, countries and regimes will remain exactly as they are. It is moral values that will change. Love and friendship are what will change.
Everyone is free in his own beliefs. People are not all obliged to believe the same things. Our Alawite brothers are very dear to us as long as they say, “La ilaha IllaAllah Muhammadan Rasulullah.” There is no question we all have to be exactly the same. Almighty Allah has created different sects and communities and ideas, and we must respect all opinions. Personally they are immaculate and highly honest people who live by Islamic moral values. As long as they say, “La ilahe IllaAllah Muhammeden Rasulullah” that is fine, insha’Allah.
People who are full of love having dominion is the way of the Mahdi. Passion, love and sincerity is the way of the Mahdi. Because Allah wants us to love and be loved. He wants us to be good natured. He does not want us to suffer. Neither does He want others to hurt us. Nor for us to hurt ourselves. He wants us to live in peace, giving thanks, observing what is lawful and unlawful, as brothers, with a passionate fervor for Allah, harming no-one. The way of the Mahdi is an instrument that will put an end to corruption and disorder. Disorder will end at once. Overnight. Hazrat Mahdi (as) acts very fast. Let us imagine that strife breaks out in Libya. How long will it take Hazrat Mahdi (as) to deal with it? One hour or two, not even a whole night. The way of the Mahdi is as fast as lightning. It also builds. Let us imagine that fine homes need to be built. How long do you think that will take? They may say it will take 20 years. But Hazrat Mahdi (as) will say, “No. It will take just 6 months.” And 6 months is all it will take. That is another characteristic of Hazrat Mahdi (as). So long as there is the determination. Determination is very important.

When love reigns, laws will be applied in the finest manner, and everything will be very excellent. How good it will be to have women in Parliament, won’t it? Because women are immaculate, warm, loving and kind people, secret teachers of love. A community with no women is very peculiar, may Allah forbid. They are teachers of peace. They quietly maintain equilibrium in society. Allah has created them specially. If there is no love, all the balances will go wrong. There is an excellent example from Ottoman times, of two traders. When a customer came to one of them, he suggested the customer make his purchases from the other trader. That is love.
The Qur’an tells us that believers’ purpose is to earn Allah’s approval. In other words, Allah’s approval is more important than anything else. Our true aim is to earn His approval. We love Allah for His approval alone.
If a man and a woman love one another for money, they do not really love at all. They should love one another out of virtue. For their depth, passion and warmth. We love Allah for His existence. We will still love and worship Allah even if He does not bestow paradise on us, won’t we? We will still love and worship him just the same.
