Every self will taste death. We test you with both good and evil as a trial. And you will be returned to Us. (Surat al-Anbiya’, 35)
As revealed in the above verse, the world is a place of trial in which Allah tests His servants sometimes with several difficulties and sometimes with blessings. Those who pass these trials with goodness stay devoted to Allah in every incident, show good morality at all times whether Allah increases or decreases the blessings He endows, turn to Him when sick or healthy and thank Him and trust in Him no matter what.
People are continuously being tried in the life of this world, and therefore those who have faith with a sincere heart and those who don’t, are being separated from one another. Allah reveals this fact in one verse as follows:
Or did you imagine that you were going to enter the Garden without Allah knowing those among you who had struggled and knowing the steadfast? (Surah al ‘Imran, 142)
There is no doubt that a person’s behavior in the face of trials reveals that person’s devotion to Allah and whether or not he is sincere about love of Allah. If the person really loves Allah and readily submits to all He creates, then he would receive everything that comes from Him favorably. A person who maintains his or her good morality in the face of even the most difficult trials, who shows trust and patience, loves Allah very much without any doubt and is faithful to Him with a deep and sensitive respect. In one verse, Allah reveals the good morality of those who are faithful when they are attacked by disbelievers and who prove their submission and love for Him in the face of difficulties:
Those to whom people said, ‘The people have gathered against you, so fear them.’ But that merely increased their belief and they said, ‘Allah is enough for us and the Best of Guardians.’ (Surah al ‘Imran, 173)
On the other hand, this is also another fact that Muslims grow mature on the account of trials, and become ready for Paradise by earning a deeper fear of Allah. Displaying a strong personality no matter what they are faced with, never falling into despair, meeting every trial with patience, not getting spoilt or boasting over blessings, submitting to Allah in every incident cause them to reach the morality of the people of Paradise, and this good morality of theirs conduce them to be rewarded with Paradise that Allah created with infinite knowledge and absolute magnificence.
