The Evolution Deceit
“The River Wolf and the Isle of Serpents”
This program, which dealt with various species living in the rain forests of Brazil, contained nothing more than evolutionist propaganda based on distorting the facts about a species of snake. This claim concerned how the snake known as the “golden lancehead pit viper” might have come to the island on which it lives and the so-called evolution it underwent subsequently. It was explained how although this island, a few kilometers from the mainland, was actually attached to the mainland up until 10,000 years ago, and that rising sea levels had led to it being surrounded by water. It was then claimed that the snakes in question had lived on the mainland until 10,000 years ago and had then left behind the snake species living there and had evolved on the island.
However, this entire tale constitutes no evidence for the theory of evolution.
The situation described here is the phenomenon known as microevolution to biologists, who also accept that it represents no evidence for the hypothesis that living things evolved from a common ancestor. (See Confessions About “Microevolution”)
We can summarize the situation on the island in question thus. The emergence of this island leads to the snakes being geographically isolated from those on the mainland and prevents them from mating with those snakes. As time passes, the appearance of the two populations may become different. During this differentiation, genes which are dominant in terms of frequency are expressed, and these come to be widespread in individuals over the course of time.
This phenomenon can also be seen in human beings. For example, if the people of one region are separated according to their height and the group in which short individuals predominate settle on one island and another group in which tall individuals predominate settle on another island, then the average height of the population of one island will soon be significantly greater than that of the other.
The only reason why evolutionists refer to this as “evolution” is the fact that the two geographically separated populations do not interbreed. Evolutionists regard this as the emergence of a new species. Yet there is one very important point to be noted here: there has been no increase in genetic information in these snakes, and an increase in genetic information is essential if the evolutionists’ claims are true.
In some circumstances individuals in isolated populations exhibit such behaviour as not breeding. These living things can be made to breed under laboratory conditions, however, and healthy young can be obtained.
The way that Discovery Channel airs such examples of “micro-evolution” as evidence for Darwinism clearly reveals the hopeless position evolutionists are in when it comes to evidence, which is why they resort to facile distortions in spreading propaganda for the sake of their theories.2003-08-26 00:00:00
