(Concerning the slanders made against Muslims)

Let them slander. What harm can come from slander?  Muslims rise in rank through slander. They become better. When the other side issues a slander, they earn the merit from that. All the merit collected together. Is that not a great blessing? All the collected sins in the person cross to the other side. How wonderful! They can issue what slanders they like. The believer rises in station every time. His position in the hereafter improves, His paradise broadens.

There is an unhappiness in the world. Not just in Turkey, but in the whole world. This has happened under the influence of the way of the dajjal [antichrist]. The way of the dajjal has darkened people’s souls, broken their fervor and enthusiasm and determination and eliminated their artistic and creative powers. It has made them aggressive; people who are combative, vengeful, prone to sharp words, who take pleasure in hurting others, who are insincere, mendacious, two-faced  and egotistical have begun appearing in the world. Of course, there are good people. But also cases like these. As a result, I have seen that people’s happiness has gone. Allah is showing that they need Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh). Despair will swamp people even more unless they follow Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh). The economic crisis will worsen and people’s creative power will disappear. When I say creative, Allah creates and uses His servants in doing so. Their creative powers will keep weakening. Almighty Allah says in the hadiths that people will only be happy with Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh). That key is in Hazrat Mahdi’s (pbuh) hands. Allah has given it to him. In other words, Allah will bestow happiness, peace and joy through the Qur’an, and He will bestow a happiness of soul with the Qur’an and through Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh), insha’Allah. Otherwise they will be and are unhappy. I have seen that pessiminstic air. They were not happy. They try to have fun, but find it difficult, they can’t do it. One cannot be happy except with Allah. Except with Islam and the Qur’an. Allah makes Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) His instrument in describing Islam and the Qur’an, insha’Allah. If they say, “No, I will do what I think fit,” the result will be unhappy systems that are joyless, constantly tense, and that oppress and inflict suffering on one another. Look, all the systems in the world are fighting one another. Brother fights brother. They inflict suffering on one another. They imprison one another. They plan systems and coups that will hurt one another. And someone else is busy plotting against them. One imagines he can look down on people, and others look down on him. The result is a really strange and sinister system. That is why it is important to submit to Allah and become sincere Muslims without delay. The more time they lose, the more they sink. They just sink deeper. There is no time to lose. What a fine system Almighty Allah has installed. Almighty Allah’s desires are so good and so accurate. “Love Me. And I will love you,” He says. “Give thanks to Me, and I will multiply your blessings,” He says. If someone says, “I will not give thanks,” then Allah says, “then I will send you affliction.” Since it is Allah Who creates the image, in that case He will not create it. It is Allah Who bestows happiness on the heart, and He will not do it. So we cannot be happy. Someone may say, “No, I will still be happy.” But you cannot be. The more you try, the unhappier you become, and that will make you suffer. But there is a glorious joy, a delightful flavor, a huge excitement, beauty and depth of faith in Islam and the Qur’an, insha’Allah.

(In answer to the question “When I pass from the material to the spirit world, can I come back?”)

Never embark on such things. They are to be done with a spiritual guide. There is a verse about that. Our Prophet (pbuh) says so with a verse from the Qur’an. But in fact no such thing is possible, because power lies in Allah’s hand. There is a verse that says, “Say: ‘My Lord, make my entry sincere and make my leaving sincere and grant me supporting authority direct from Your Presence.’” he says. Our Prophet (pbuh) assumed luminosity as the revelation came. He left the material world. He ceased being material and became light. He assumed luminosity. This is a special state. He departed from matter in the sense we are familiar with. He then established contact with Jibrail. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) turned ashen in color. They covered him with muslin as the revelation came. His body was covered with light at that moment, masha’Allah.

(In answer to the question “Is there a verse in the Qur’an about covering oneself up?”)

It is a matter for debate whether there is a verse about covering oneself up in the Qur’an. Many scholars say that no verses explicitly refer to a headscarf. I have looked, and indeed there are no verses in the Qur’an about headscarves. It refers to a covering. They should “draw their coverings across their breasts,” it says. The women at that time used to go bare-breasted, literally. And Allah tells them to cover up. Their sexual organs were also uncovered, Allah tells them to cover their private parts up also. In Surat an-Nur Allah tells them to “draw their coverings across their breasts,”, to cover their breast. But the verse does not talk about headscarves. It talks about any cloth. There are some teachers who take that position. Who turn up on the television. It is true when they say the Qur’an make no such reference. But there is the ijma of the Ummah [the general concurrence of learned, juridical opinion]. The Ummah has lived with this for the last 1400 years. It is now well-known. It is enshrined by the practices and Sunnah of our Prophet (pbuh). It appears in Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Sunan Ibn Majah, Sunan An-Nasa’i, Sunan Abu Dawud, the books of trustworthy hadiths. Not in the form of a headscarf, but a woman’s cloak. Broad, black cloth that covers the whole body but leaves the face open, according to me. It appears in that form, but not as a headscarf. It is a single block that covers the whole body, insha’Allah. And it is described in the hadiths. But I respect those of our brothers who interpret it as a headscarf. Some young women and ladies say; “I refuse to wear the headscarf because there is no such commandment in the Qur’an. Allah clearly issues no such commandment. And there is no verse to confirm this, saying you will be punished if you do not wear the headscarf.” Because commandments are always confirmed in the Qur’an. I say that we have the ijma, and the trustworthy hadiths, and it is applied Sunnah. Therefore, since it is described in such detail and has come down right to the present day, it is a black cloth. That is what I believe. But I respect people who disagree, who say there are no verses to that effect. It does not speak of a covering in the form of a headscarf. There is nothing like that, insha’Allah.

(In response to the question, “It would be good if you gave some formulae to recite as food for the soul and we repeated them for the good of mankind. Are you not our spiritual guide?”)

You must say, SubhanAllah [Exalted is Allah], SubhanAllah, SubhanAllah. And I can let you into a little secret, since you ask. When you say SubhanAllah, you will feel a great joy. You are asleep, but Allah is wakeful. He does not sleep. How excellent! The whole universe your house and home, your children, your brothers and the whole world are safe while you sleep. Your body is safe. What joy! You are under the control of an infinite intelligence and you are submitted to Him. You lay your head down and go to sleep, thanks be to Allah. We must say Subhanallah with joy. Fix onto its meanings during the recitations after prayer and give depth to its meaning. That is the formula I would offer you. Since you regard me as a spiritual guide. Let me also give you another formula. Say Allah-u Akbar [God is the Greatest], and rejoice. Allah created the television and this glass. And Allah creates the images on the television. Allah creates the sounds. He is great, very, very great. Rejoice in the greatness and might of Allah. Let your brain be at ease and let your soul rejoice the more you say Allah-u Akbar. What great joy! You say Allah-u Akbar, and you are under the control of Mighty Allah and are entrusted to Him. What joy! Say, alhamdulillah [thanks be to Allah] that you walk on two legs, that your eyes can see, that your tongue can speak, alhamdulillah. Allah gives you your daily bread, alhamdulillah. Tomatoes arrive, bright-red. Lovely and sweet and you sprinkle salt over them, alhamdulillah. Then you slice the tomato up, alhamdulillah. Peppers are really delicious, alhamdulillah. Thanks be to Allah, you are going to have a holiday. Alhamdulillah will be good for your brain, mind, soul and everything. Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar and Astafurullah [I seek forgiveness from Allah].

Astafurullah, Astafurullah, Astafurullah. Because we are all human, and we sin. A ton-weight is then lifted from one. Astafurullah, astafurullah. It is a holiday, astafurullah. Because Allah says,“I will forgive.” And you say astafurullah. When He forgives, He makes hell unlawful for you. There is nowhere else but paradise for you. There is no intermediate place once hell is made unlawful for you. You must therefore go to paradise, insha’Allah. You can feel the joy of that, alhamdulillah. You will feel the joy of alhamdulillah. Experience the joy of astafurullah, of Allahu Akbar. That is what I recommend for when you recite the prayer beads. You go through the 33 beads three times after prayer. So enjoy the healing and joy of this. Enjoy its festival atmosphere, and your brain will relax. As you say estafurullah, astafurullah, astafurullah. A thousand kilos are lifted from you with one astfurullah. Two thousand kilos with one Astafurullah, or three thousand kilos. You will become as light as a feather by the 33rd. 33 times.  33 Allahu Akbar. You recite the greatness of Allah 33 times and will have completely surrendered to that infinite might. And a wondrous ease develops in your heart because of that surrender, because of your trust in Allah. Because He rules the proton, and Neptune, and Pluto and everywhere. I have surrendered to Him – how delightful! You die, but you do not die. And when you die, you are restored to life. How magnificent, masha’Allah. There is no such thing as death. Images do not disappear. I watch TV films. There is a channel where one can watch old films. From the 1940s, for instance. These people are all living now in the Sight of Allah. And Allah shows them on the television. He shows us they are living in this way. If you are curious as to how they are living, they are living like this, as if to say. Look, Allah is saying; “I can create so easily, even on the television. I am showing you how easily they are created through a very simple shadow. Now you can now quite clearly how they are living in My sight.” Because He makes an image of them there. He could make a 3D image if He so wished. There is a perfectly clear image in His presence. A little of that clarity is lost in our sight, but they are still exactly the same. They still speak, eat and sit diwn and wear the same clothes. Everything about them is the same. None of their clothes are changed. Their clothes still exist in the Presence of Allah. Nothing happens to them. Every image and everything remains the same. Nothing is lost. For example, nothing is lost of anything we say, of all the things we experienced as children. It all remains exactly as it was in the Presence of Allah. How marvelous. It is all safe in the Presence of Allah. If He chooses, He will show it. And of He does not, He will not. He will show it if it is not against one’s interests. But He preserves it, masha’Allah.

(In response to a viewer who says, “I cannot get up to pray in the morning.”)

What kind of thing is that to say? You must say Allah, bismillah, with great joy and fervor. How wonderful, Almighty Allah restores your soul in the morning. Give thanks to Almighty Allah. Your soul has been restored to you when you get up in the morning. You get up, and your eyes can see. Some people cannot see when they get up in the morning. They get up and their faces are all distorted. But you are quite fit and healthy when you get up. You get up with no sickness. So say O Allah, Bismillah. And go and wash your face and pull yourself together. And then pray. Then you can go back to get again. Or do whatever else you please.
