THE PROPHET JONAH (YUNUS) (PBUH) BEING SWALLOWED BY A LARGE FISH AND HIS BEING SAVED LATER ON ARE EVENTS THAT HAPPENED IN A WAY THAT WOULD NOT TAKE AWAY FREE WILL

That incident actually happened in a way that would not take away free will. They really were on a ship, they really cast lots and he is really thrown overboard. Being swallowed by fish was not something unheard of; there are similar incidents in history. As a matter of fact there is a person who'd been swallowed by a fish and then spewed out after a while, and because of the stomach secretions white marks have been formed on his skin. A skin defect has developed because he remained at there for a long while. This is not something that never happened before and this would not remove  freewill. The fish actually swallowed him and it actually threw him to the shore. As far as I understand, when the fish swallowed him, it went towards the shore for its life. It is not that the fish could digest him because he was a well-built prophet. But of course these all happened according to the Will of God, or else had Almighty God willed so, he would have died there and then. So the fish spewed him out by the shore but he was left there naked. It is understood that because he had the stomach secretions of the fish all over his clothes, he had to throw those clothes away. As I understand it, he washed himself with sea water. He was left there by the sea all naked and covered himself with leaves he found there. Of course, this is a very traumatic incident which would make him think seriously. This is a city in which more than 100,000 people lived. And he was sent there as the Messenger of God and he left them just because they did not accept him. Almighty God compelled him to go back there, so he went back to the city he deserted and performed his duties as a prophet: God has thus shown us the importance of being steadfast and patient. God compelled him to do his tasks.
